‘I Village’ brings to you products of contemporary use in soft furnishing, home decor, clothing and gifting, manufactured using traditional Indian techniques, skills and hand-based processes.
While the products are designed at our Delhi office, they are manufactured in villages of Bulandshahr (Uttar Pradesh – India), generating employment for rural women with the mission of empowering them through social and financial independence.
‘I Village’ is closely associated with the ‘Pardada-Pardadi Foundation’ that runs a school with the same name and helps in educating close to 1500 girls from villages in and around Anupshahr (dist. Bulandshahr). The school, in addition to providing free education, study material, uniforms and meals, also prepares these girls for a productive future through vocational training and counselling for further education.
‘I Village’ is constantly adding to the employment opportunities it can provide women. It has a Call Center that employs girls graduating from Pardada-Pardadi school. They are put through an intensive 3 month training module that educates them on the technical aspects in addition to lessons in voice modulation and diction. ‘I Village’ has also started an ‘aggarbatti’ (incense sticks) unit with a manufacturing capacity of 10,000 sticks per day, which it intends to double in the coming months.
