Dressing Rules For Various Wedding Ceremonies

Indian weddings are a grand affair. Besides the main wedding ceremony, there are many other pre wedding functions which take place. If you have been invited to one such Indian wedding, then you will not just have to make sure that you don’t just have the perfect wedding garments for the day of the wedding, but also for these miscellaneous wedding ceremonies as well.
Some of the pre wedding ceremonies and the most apt dresses for the same have been discussed below:

Haldi Dress

This ceremony takes place separately in the respective house of the bride and the groom. In this ceremony all the family members and the guests get the chance to paint the bride or the groom yellow with turmeric powder. The significance of this ceremony is that, all the friends and family members of the bride and the groom help them in getting all cleaned up and looking pretty for the wedding ceremony. This ceremony generally is enjoyed a lot by the youngsters who play around with the haldi and many times, other than the bride and the groom, other people are also painted yellow with it, in jest. Therefore, it is better to wear some old kurta pajama or a suit, made with a material from which the haldi stains can be removed easily. The haldi dress is generally not a new dress, as many times, you may have to discard it after the occasion.

Mehndi Dress

Another important function at an Indian wedding, which is closely related and is a typical representative of our Indian culture, is that of the Mehndi ceremony. This ceremony is basically meant for the girls, but on many occasions, the boys gatecrash this ceremony for having some fun. Getting Mehndi put is a long and tiring procedure and therefore, the dress worn by you should be comfortable. Another thing to remember while choosing a dress for this occasion is to not wear a full sleeve dress, as the ends of it might get stained with mehndi, which is impossible to remove. If you want to get mehndi put on your feet as well, then you can wear a loose pajama which can be easily folded up.

Sangeet Or Musical Night

Friends and family members of the bride and groom come together to sing and dance and have a lot of fun, just before the final wedding day. The guests prepare performances teasing each other and wishing the couple best of luck for their future. The night may be a light hearted affair, but dressing up for the same is no joke. Your dress needs to be stylish and yet comfortable, so that you are able to easily dance in it. Traditional Indian wedding dresses are preferred for the occasion rather than western outfits
Wearing the right dresses for the Indian wedding ceremonies may be a tiring process, but it is fun as well. Therefore, do not lose the opportunity of wearing the best Indian garments at the upcoming wedding invite that you have.
