Marriage is an auspicious event that brings two souls into the path of love, commitment and trust. A typical Hyderabad marriage takes place with the belief of god in the name of spirituality.
The various rituals are performed with god as the ultimate care taker and the couples seek his blessings in each and every ritual performed.
A formal engagement is scheduled to announce the wedding after performing horoscope matching between the couples. This is done to ensure fulfilling marriage life. They fix the marriage date, venue and timings by avoiding inauspicious spirit. The bond between the bride and mother-in-law is created by gifting jewels and gold ornaments.
Few hours prior to the marriage, the groom takes a sacred bath which strengthens his soul to take up the new responsibilities of happy marriage life. He is given a silver thread to adorn himself.
Desire to go on pilgrimage tour
The groom suddenly desires to follow the path of god and to be enlightened. So he takes a walking stick with few clothes packed and walks off. It is the duty of brother’s bride to convince him to marry his sister.

The couples then get ready for their happy marriage to be held with new wedding attire and make up. Oil, turmeric paste and flour are mixed to be applied on both of them to give a refreshing feel before marriage. Aarti is taken with vermilion applied to the bride symbolising Lord Lakshmi’s blessings.
Worship of god and goddess
The bride performs gowri pooja whereas the groom performs ganapathi pooja because he destroys all the hindrance of their happy marriage. Both of them pray for their relationship to last long with love. The fulfilling marriage commences by the bride’s arrival to the hall.
The couples hold hands together
The bride’s family handover the bride to groom’s family. The couples hold hands signifying that they have entered into an inseparable relationship of love and sorrow. Jaggery and cumin seeds are placed on their heads with Vedic slogans being recited.

The priest then gives the sacred thread to the groom to make the nuptial knot. They come around the sacred fire with slogans recited. They are blessed by the invitees with turmeric and rice mixture. Exchange of garlands and registration of the wedding also takes place confirming their relationship legally.
